Abstrakt: The article presents information on epidermal growth. Epidermal cells can be grown in vitro in organ, explant, or cell cultures. Dermal factors seem to improve epidermal growth in vitro. Organ and explant cultures are both heterogeneous, containing different cell types from epidermis and dermis and also from intracellular matrix. The structure of the cell membrane is important for the response to environmental signals leading to cell proliferation and differentiation. Proliferation is a complicated process regulated by a number of components affecting different signal systems. Some of these compounds are involved in more than one receptor system, which creates opportunities for interactions.
