Abstrakt: The article discusses the characteristics of pruritus vulva in women. Amyloid skin lesions may be part of a systemic amyloidosis, but localized cutaneous amyloid lesions are more common than the generalized form. Extracellular deposits of an abnormal protein material that binds Congo red dye characterize amyloidosis. A greater awareness of the possibility of this lesion in women with pruritus vulvae and more frequent use of Congo red dye in vulvar biopsy specimens would lead to the diagnosis of more cases and the expansion of the knowledge regarding treatment of these patients.
