Abstrakt: Boron carbide is an extremely promising material for variety of applications that require high hardness and good wear resistance. The paper presents the experimental results on the structure B4C powders and B4C ceramic composite after mechanical activation in a planetary mill. Measurements of the specific surface by the BET method showed an increase in the specific surface with the increase of mechanical treatment time. The average grain size decreased to 1.5-2 μm. X-ray diffraction pattern of the studied composites indicated that B4C(Rhomb) and C(Hex) are present in the samples. High-resolution X-Ray computer tomography was used to scan the samples. It has been shown that the X-Ray computer tomography can be used to determine the parameters of the internal structure of B4C-C composite. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
