The article presents a case related to subcutaneous angiocentric T-cell lymphoma associated with fatal hemophagocytic syndrome. A 70-year-old woman was admitted in November 1991 for internal fixation of a left pertrochantenc fracture. On admissions several indurated plaques and nodules were noted. The Epstein-Barr virus has been associated consistently with certain T-cell Iympbomas, especially with angiocentric immunoproliferative lessions. The application of irnmunophenotyping and genotyping techniques has shown that some cases of cytophagic histiocytic panniculitis or malignant histiocytosis may represent T-cell lymphomas. |
