The Nagasaki sample endorsed experiencing access pain, muscle pain, or cramping and dialysis headaches more commonly than the Brooklyn sample, while they experienced less arthritis pain and less diabetic and other pain. The experience of pain in our international sample was common with over 70% of participants reporting pain beyond everyday types of pain. Further large scale studies examining the pain experience, patient preferences for pain management, and utility of pain interventions are needed in dialysis populations.
