Abstrakt: Sodium hydrosulfite is a widely used reducing agent for dyeing of cotton with vat dyes. However, it forms various sulfur-containing decomposition products that enter the wastewater stream and create environmental problems. Alternative reducing systems for vat dyeing would be desirable. In the present work, the use of Fe(II) coordination complexes with suitable ligands is reported. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
