Abstrakt: Infertility is one of the health problems that affects couples' life. One of the causes of infertility is polycystic ovary syndrome, which, in addition to infertility, can also affect sexual function of couples. The purpose of this study was to determine and compare sexual dysfunction in fertile and infertile women with polycystic ovary. This cross-sectional study was carried out on 63 eligible women in fertility age chosen by objective sampling in Shiraz. In this study, 32 PCOS patients who did not want to have a pregnancy and 31 PCOS patients who were infertile participated in the study. After confirmation of the ethics committee and receiving informed consent, a demographic questionnaire and FSFI sexual function questionnaire were completed. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistical methods and SPSS software was used to analyze the data at 5% significance level. The findings showed that there was no significant difference in terms of demographic characteristics (age, marriage age, education, occupation, meal, BMI) in both fertile and infertile groups. There was a significant difference in sexual arousal (0.331), orgasm (0.001), sexual satisfaction (0.450), and general scope (0.101) among the two groups (fertile and infertile). As if in the fertile group, the scores of these domains were higher than the infertile group, but in other areas (desire, pain and lubrication), there was no significant difference between the two groups. In comparison, the prevalence of sexual dysfunction in the areas of arousal (0.122), orgasm (0.002), satisfaction (0.044) and general scope (0.044) was significantly different between the two groups, but in other areas the two groups did not have a significant difference. The results of this study indicated that both factors of infertility and polycystic ovary can affect couples' sexual function. Therefore, regarding the effect of sexual function on fertility and also the negative effects of women sexual dysfunction and its consequences on the family and society, prevention and treatment of this problem is important.
