Battefeld et al. describe a versatile and open-source rapid LED switching system for one-photon imaging and photo-activation, that can be used either for quantitative ratiometric Ca SP 2+ sp imaging or to combine Ca SP 2+ sp imaging with optogenetic stimulation.
