Abstrakt: Teachers' understanding and mastering of content knowledge are crucial for successful classroom teaching and learning. This study aims to identify the level of Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK) among Visual Arts Education (VAE) teachers in secondary schools. This study employed a survey design using questionnaires of 70 items. The questionaire measures four PCK constructs of content knowledge (PIK), knowledge of general pedagogy (PPA), knowledge of specific pedagogy (PPK), and knowledge of context (PK) that were administred to 36 secondary school visual arts teachers in Hulu Langat. Data was analyzed descriptively. The results showed that VAE teachers in secondary shools have a high level of PCK, whereby PIK was found to be at the highest level and followed by PPK, PPA and PK. The analysis also indicated that VAE teachers in secondary schools master classroom control, use student-centered teaching methods, and yet lacked training and exposure to professional development courses related to VAE pedagogy. This study suggested that there is a need to provide relevant and continous training to VAE teachers in secondary schools to improve and update their pedagogical content knowledge necessary to improve VAE teaching and learning quality in secondary schools.
