A 30-year-old Italian woman showed a nodular erythematous lesion of about 1 cm in diameter on her right leg, slightly painful to touch, with a central pale cavity about 0.2 cm wide, oozing serosanguinous fluid. Antibiotic treatment is completely ineffective; in any case, the bacteriostatic activity inside the larva's intestine seems to prevent the growth of pyogenic bacteria in the lesion. |
