The article focuses on diagnosis of lesions on the scortum of a patient. The man presented with a 6-week history of two minimally tender nodules on his scrotum. Initial skin biopsy showed ulceration of the epidermis with infiltration of predominantly neutrophils, suggesting an infectious etiology. Routine hematoxylin and eosin-stained sections of the oxcisional biopsy specimen showed epidermal hyperplasia and increased vascularity of the dermis. There are reports in the medical literature of Ki-1- positive lymphoma presenting with temporarily regressing, inflammatory skin lesions that were highly suspicious for an infectious cause. |
