Abstrakt: Moldavian Plain is a region in Romania, with a high number and a great variety of historical monuments. At the same time, is a region who suffered strong transformations in the post-communist period from all points of view. The present paper aims to evaluate the effects of socio- economic and political changes on heritage sites conservation and to combine these results with the natural risk assessments in order to obtain a map of Heritage sites at risk in Moldavian Plain. We want to focus on religious monuments that are at high risk, trying to integrate natural risk factors like landslides and flooding zones with social risk factors. „ Heritage at Risk 2000 report” by ICOMOS considered that the major treats identified were: maintenance deficiency, lack of financial and human resources; economic and social changes, particularly changing State responsibilities and unsettled ownerships; insufficient conservation standards; tourism-related issues. The region is characterized by high migration values, population ageing, change in beliefs, losing the traditional architectural values, imposed modernization, presence of touristic activities etc. so we can say that the heritage is at risk. The intensity of this phenomenon differs from village to village, so we tried to emphasize the vulnerable areas as a decision support for the Romanian authorities. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
