The recent infusion of practice theory into institutional theory, or the practice-driven institutionalism (PDI), has opened up novel opportunities and directions for studying many research puzzles that were not well addressed by previous works, and, therefore, attracted much attention from both camps of scholars. In developing a research agenda towards the PDI, this symposium examines in particular the previously unsolved issues in the studies of institutional change, into which the PDI offers brilliant insights. We include four presentations that explore the integration of institutional and practice theories, each from a different angle. In particular, they discuss how organization practices and praxis may construct or destruct macro-institutions, or change the power structures and inter-organizational interactions within an institutional field as well as the role of identities and material artefacts in these processes.
