Abstrakt: The objective of this work is to compare the hydraulic and energy performances of the thermal solution with respect to the electrical solution during the pumping of water by the National Society of Water Exploitation and Distribution (SONEDE) in Tunisia. The study involved testing a horizontal centrifugal pump under the same hydraulic conditions, with an electric motor driven at 1500 rpm and a 1300, 1500 and 1700 rpm thermal engine. The comparison of the power levels and the efficiency of the electric and thermal motors revealed the superiority of the electric motor. Indeed, at the speed of 1500 rpm, for both electrical and thermal tests, a yield of 38% and a power of 9.70 kW for the heat engine were noted. On the other hand, average efficiency and power values are respectively 84% and 5.85 kW for the electric motor. Finally, the electric motor is more interesting than the heat engine from the viewpoint of energy, efficiency, power supplied, space requirement and sound level. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
