Abstrakt: The article presents several abstracts of conference papers related to human resource practices in the U.S. The conference paper entitled 'Image Theory and Performance Appraisal: How Contrast Effects Moderate Use of the Screening Process,' explored whether image theory could offer insight into the decision making processes used in performance evaluations. In a series of three experiments, participants (N=400) evaluated the performance of a book store employee with varying degrees of good and bad performance behaviors. The authors discuss the theoretical and practical consequences of applying image theory to decision making in performance evaluations. The conference paper entitled 'Ethnic Group Differences in Measures of Job Performance: A New Meta-Analysis,' conducted a new meta-analysis of ethnic group differences in job performance. Given a substantially increased set of data as compared to earlier analyses, the authors of the paper were able to conduct analyses of Black-White differences within more clearly defined categories of job performance and to re-examine findings on objective versus subjective measurement. The conference paper entitled 'An Integrated Perspective of Antecedents to Ingratiatory Behaviors,' examined both situational and dispositional antecedents of four ingratiatory behaviors: other enhancing, opinion conformity, favor rendering, and self-promotion.
