Abstrakt: The effects of global climate change make meeting the demands of the global energy market an increasingly difficult task. Thus the Renewable Energy Sources (RES) grow from year to year, replacing the hitherto conventional sources, mainly based on fossil fuels. Amongst the most promising RES technologies the use of wind resources in urban and suburban areas is gaining more and more interest. Nevertheless, Small Wind Turbines (SWTs) desperately need high efficiency to economically justify their use. The article shares an insight into the current situation in the SWT market in Europe, with particular emphasis on statistical analysis, potential and development perspectives. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
