The purpose of the study is to identify theepistemological is to resource of metaphors in the discourse of philosophical understanding of the essence and forms of social reality. Analysis of theoretical and methodological substantiations of the use of metaphors in scientific research, as well as their own experience in developing and using the concept of theatricality of sociocommunicative manifestations of culture (which is also metaphorical) showed a powerful gnoseological resource of this practice. This is due mainly to the fact that metaphors give new points of view on the objects of research. Therefore, they give new opportunities for obtaining new knowledge about these objects (phenomena, processes, relations) and for the formation of new philosophical paradigms.
