This essay seeks to investigate from a comparative point of view the relationship between the narrative production of Oreste del Buono and his intense activity as a translator and editorial consultant between the fifties and the new millennium. The specific aim is to demonstrate how the fertile dialectic between the various facets of his multiform genius has represented both a constant stimulus to the experimentation of new forms during his career and, at the same time, a crucial factor in the evolution of his ambitious project of a "total narrative".
