Abstrakt: In this paper we discuss the results obtained by a Localized Surface Plasmon Resonance (LSPR)- based Plastic Optical Fiber (POF) sensing with the tip coated with Spherical Gold Nanoparticles (AuNPs) produced by seed method. We tested its sensitivity to the change of the refractive index (RI). The AuNPs showed good sensitivity around of the RI of the Escherichia Coli (1.33-1.39). The tip of the POF was previously prepared, removing the cladding with acetone and distilled water and after that, it was immersed in cyclopentanone solution to decrease the core to 700μm and so to act as coupled lens. The AuNPs solution was characterized by transmission electron microscope (TEM) and absorbance spectrum. The obtained nanoparticles presented 10 nm diameter and absorption spectrum barycenter at 526 nm. The adhesion to the POF tip was investigated by Field Emission Guns-Scanning Electron Microscope (FEG-SEM), showing that the utilized process was realized with success. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
