Cyclic aminomethylphosphines in general and 1,5-diaza-3,7-dihposphacyclooctanes in particular are widely used for the design of d10-metal complexes with catalytic or luminescent properties. 1,5-Diaza-3,7-diphosphacyclooctanes are chelating ligands towards Ni subgroup metals and chelating or bridging ligands towards copper subgroup metals. These ligands can be utilized for the design of polynuclear complexes with stimuli-responsive luminescence. Nowadays several complexes based on 1,5-diaza-3,7-diphosphacyclooctanes demonstrating stimuli-response of emission towards organic substrates or temperature are known. Some of the gold(I) complexes are able to sensitize the luminescent anionic rhenium cluster. Copper(I) complexes display rather strong luminescence with quantum yields 20-40%.
