Abstrakt: The education system determines the future of the nation, laying the foundations for civilization’s progress. The educational paradigm of pragmatism is not without contradictions, however, it is an indisputable interest to scholars. John Dewey raises a number of issues that still remain unresolved in the philosophy of education. In pragmatic philosophical writings, there is a conflict between the need for personal development in the system of education and the need for translation of knowledge, between the need for a democratic society to provide opportunities for individual development and a view of education as a system of measurable learning outcomes, and, finally, the conflict between the need for freedom of knowledge and rigidity formalization of education. Dewey’s pragmatism added to the educational practice three basic concepts: the need for physical, manipulative activity to be part of learning; formation of the habit of research on the basis of systems available in science; and the need to revitalize the social role of education. Until these views won’tbe understood and accepted by teachers, society will not be able to hope for the best. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
