According to the author, no single important act of a central labor body in any American city has ever met with more instantaneous and popular approval than the vote of the Boston Central Labor Union on March 16, 1919 when the establishment of a Trade Union College was authorized and its maintenance pledged. The only murmurs of adverse criticism which were heard came from those who regretted that none but trade unionists might participate in the activities of the new school and from those who suggested that the same ends might be attained by a broadening of the Massachusetts State extension service. |
