Abstrakt: The article focuses on legal requirements of the offenses of piracy and armed robbery against ships by relating these within the context of the Gulf of Guinea. It mentions how the legal requirement of the offenses affects the curtailment of maritime crimes, bearing in mind the realities of continuous attacks of commercial vessels in the region. It also mentions international community controlled access to the territorial waters of the States.
