Objective: To observe the clinical efficacy of fire needling combined with bloodletting in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis (KOA). Methods: 70 KOA patients were randomly divided into a control group (n = 35) and treatment group (n = 35). The control group took diclofenac sodium enteric-coated tablets, while the treatment group received fire needling combined with bloodletting. The changes of TCM symptom score, visual analogue scale (VAS), index of severity for knee osteoarthritis (ISOA), JOA knee osteoarthritis score and range of motion (ROM) of the two groups before and after treatment were compared and the clinical efficacy of two groups were evaluated. Results: Compared with pre-treatment, the TCM symptom score, VAS score and ISOA score of two groups decreased after treatment, but JOA knee osteoarthritis score and ROM increased, and the above indexes in the treatment group were better than those in the control group (P < 0.05). The clinical total effective rate of treatment group was 91.73% (32/35), which was higher than 65.71% (23/35) of control group (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Fire needling combined with bloodletting for treating KOA can significantly increase clinical efficacy, relieve clinical symptoms, reduce pain and promote recovery of knee joint function and improve survival quality, which has obvious advantages.
