The article offers a study on insulin-like growth factors (IGF) and binding proteins in ruminants and their nutritional regulation. Topics include biological response of target cells which is determined by the developmental state of the cell and synergism with other growth factors; and in ruminants severe feed restriction decreases concentrations of IGF-I. It concludes that responses of IGF to somatotropin are affected by alterations in nutritional status. |
