Death anxiety is one of the most common fears that humans have. Social scientists have been trying to study death anxiety from different perspectives and with different methodologies. This paper brings together the psychological perspective on death anxiety and tries to understand what it is and how it affects the individual. It throws light on different types of death anxieties and its multi-dimensionality. It also tries to explain different theoretical perspectives on death anxiety along with the various coping techniques individuals use to deal with it. The paper presents literature on how religion has been understood in the context of death anxiety and the relationship between death anxiety and religiosity. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
