The authors present a response to comments on their article on autoantibody responses to the IA-2 extracellular domain in ketosis-prone diabetes (KPD). They state that the proteolysis site in the antigene-presenting cells (APC) determines which molecules the generated peptides will bind to. Also noted is the unlikely impact of protein cleavage of IA-2 in neuroendocrine cells on autoimmune response types against IA-2 peptides. |
