The article analyzes the political cooperation between the Republic of Poland and Ukraine during the period of the presidential cadences of A. Kwasniewski and L. Kuchma. It was established that for two consecutive terms, the heads of state not only conceptually filled the bilateral cooperation, but also in practice implemented their own agreements. The link between the Presidents and the national processes on the transformation of relations to the level of strategic partnership is highlighted. It has been proved that the personal contacts of the Presidents contributed to the establishment of close inter–state relations in various spheres, primarily in the political sphere. Thus, the influence of the presidents A. Kwasniewski and L. Kuchma on the practical implementation of the Polish–Ukrainian political cooperation in 1995–2005 is clearly traceable.
