Abstrakt: The Constitution of the U.S. requires amendment. When the state governments were formed, the founders were careful to put into each state constitution provisions which would prevent most of the forms of tyranny. But when the Constitutional Convention in 1787 drafted the national Constitution, the only personal rights dealt with were habeas corpus, bills of attainder, and ex post facto laws. When the Constitution was adopted in 1787, the philosophy of the freedom of the individual was given great impetus.
