Abstrakt: This article presents information on shipworkers' strike at New York Shipbuilding Co. in Camden, New Jersey during 1935. The men are members of Industrial Union of Marine and Shipbuilding Workers of America, an independent union not affiliated with the American Federation of Labor. For ten weeks after the start of the strike the picket line had no occasion to prove its strength. Then, on July 23, 1935, the company made an effort to start production. The 2,000 pickets usually on the line were joined by the rest of the strikers and many sympathizers, and the plant remained closed.
