Abstrakt: | Research focused on military medical and nursing priorities has increased exponentially over the past decade. Subsequently, new research opportunities include collaborative partners and investigators, who may be unfamiliar with the military culture, and unique military research process requirements. Thus, critical ethical considerations can be overlooked and may pose increased risks or significant delays in the research process. Our objective is to familiarize the reader with U.S. military culture, military-specific ethical concerns and regulations, as well as special safeguards and protections for research subjects and researchers. Therefore, we frame a discussion of military-unique ethical points to consider with our Nursing Research Ethics Process Model for Military Populations, which guides us through each step of the nursing research process and provides clear and practical guidance for military systems navigation and military participant protections.
