Currently, the impact of urbanization, physical factors of the surrounding environment, specific working conditions and recreation on the individual's health are well known. Migration processes related to the concentration of large groups of population have led to a change not only in the physical parameters of the urban environment, but also in the trend of increase the incidence of some socially significant diseases such as cardiovascular, endocrine diseases, psychic illness, mental stress. Society is faced with the challenge of minimizing the effects of these negative consequences. The main mechanisms are the introduction and adherence to established norms limiting the impact of adverse physical factors. The preventive role of these criterions is most directly reflected in the work of public health inspectors. Therefore, in addition to the necessary knowledge in the field of anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, prospective public health inspectors should also acquire knowledge of the basic physical factors of the environment and their measurements. The course of medical physics for the public health inspector is structured in terms of physical factors influencing human health. The course examines the properties and basic characteristics of artificial light sources and lighting norms in working and living places. The impact of noise, vibration, infra and ultrasonic waves, electromagnetic radiation, dust pollution is studied in detail. Students are introduced to methods of measurement, norms and ways of limiting these factors. Special influence of the elements of the microclimate is determined. In addition, the properties of the ionizing radiation as well as the basic measuring quantities in the radiology are examined. Simultaneously with the theoretical material, students pass practical exercises in the laboratories. The practical part of the course complements the lecture matrix and is an integral part of the topics listed above. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
