Abstrakt: In the paper, in accordance to the theory, it is shown that the relative energy consumption of a jaw crusher depends on the average diameter of the material entering the crusher and the width of the discharge port. An experimental study has shown that the energy consumption depends also on the frequency of the jaw swing. In the study a jaw crusher with a complex swing of a moving jaw is used and it is driven by an asynchronous motor with a squirrelcage rotor. The rotational speed of the asynchronous motor is controlled by an inverter, and this frequency determines the swing frequency of the jaw. A statistical model developed in the middle of the STATGRAPHICS program demonstrates the influence of the rotation speed of the engine driving the crusher [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
