The article describes the efforts of Chief Magistrate Peter Lauritsen of the Magistrates' Court of Victoria to support the health and wellbeing of his colleagues. It discusses the views of Lauritsen on the continuing pressures facing magistrates, such as dealing with an increasing number of self-represented litigants following the implementation of Legal Aid funding changes in 2013. It explains the initiatives of the wellbeing committee of the Magistrates' Court to manage work-life balance. |
