The addition of glucose to a liver Sephadex filtrate causes a several fold increase in the rate of inactivation of phosphorylase by phosphorylase phosphatase; this enzyme is also several times more active in liver preparations obtained from mice treated with glucocoticoids several hours before sacrifice. The glucose effect is less apparent in an unfiltered liver extract because of the high concentration of glucose and the inhibitory effect of AMP. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
