A Novel One‐Pot Three‐Component Reaction for Rapid Access of Arylidene 2‐Aminoimidazolone Derivatives.

Abstrakt: A simple and convenient one‐pot reaction for the synthesis of arylidene 2‐aminoimidazolone derivatives from structurally diverse benzaldehydes, amines and 2‐(methylthio)‐1H‐imidazol‐4(5H)‐one is described. The reaction offers flexibility of use of electron‐rich and electron‐deficient benzaldehydes and mono and di‐substituted amines for the rapid development of combinatorial library. Multicomponent reactions offer convenience of developing structural complexity and library synthesis efficiently. In this current work, a convenient one‐pot multicomponent method is described for the synthesis of arylidene 2‐aminoimidazolone derivatives. The method benefits from the use of structurally diverse benzaldehydes, amines and 2‐(methylthio)‐1H‐imidazol‐4(5H)‐one and offers good to excellent yields. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
