The article talks about the Aro Ikeji Festival in Nigeria and its history of using warrior masks. Topics discussed include the youth culture and gender roles in Nigeria; the emergence of Aro people in Nigeria due to the amalgamation of several ethnic elements, including Igbo, Ibibio, and other groups; and a place on the other side of the Cross River, known as Akpa, where the warriors came from. Also mentioned are the oracles in the Aro people; the masquerade performances by Aro people; and the dances performed by warriors that returned from battle. |
