The paper reviews architecture outlines as the general characteristics of the information system and it influences on all stages of information system developing. It is very important to determine the architecture of the information system in advance, because does not exist "best" architecture. Each organization needs of proper architecture. There are some differences between the architecture of cloud-based information systems and client-server systems, so it is important to know their characteristics, to select the most appropriate architecture for a particular information system, depending on its requirements.
