The article discusses a picturebook biography genre study in a third-grade classroom. It offers a review of literature including the theoretical framing of the project, the role of picturebook biographies in the classroom and the use of nonfiction and back matter as mentor text. The article also provides an overview of the project instruction, with emphasis on the character, context, theme and back matter in reading and composing of picturebook biographies. The student outcomes is provided. |
