The article deals with the analysis of the main scientific works of the researchers of the Soviet era and the period of Ukrainian independence witch are dedicated to the events of the First World War in Ukraine and in Volyn. The purpose of the article is to study the problem of the elucidation of combat operations in the Volyn Polissya during the First World War in the writings of Ukrainian historians. The subject of the analysis was to generalize works on the history of Ukraine and Volyn, special historical researches of scientists and regional researchers on military topics, which reveal regional aspects and features of the course of military events on the territory of Volyn Polissya. The publication clarifies the degree of study and coverage of the issue of military action in the region in 1915–1917. The conclusions noted the insufficient coverage of these problems in the study in the regional context of Volyn Polissya and stressed the need to further study the issue of the course of combat operations in the region.
