Touch, the sensation processed by the somatosensory system, is closely related to the body state. Due to the spatiotemporal characteristics of the somatosensory receptors and the structural constraints of the body, we have sometimes experienced with sensory illusions in touch as well as vision. In this paper, I introduce several techniques to generate illusory sensations which can be exploited to develop information displays. I review the previous findings of our experiments of the changes in the haptic perception or body image using the techniques. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
