Abstrakt: Introduction and Objective: Hearing is the only sensation that can be replaced therefore it give great hope to children and their families who born with congenital hearing loss. Although a certain stage was recorded with otologic implant operations performed in various centers, a definitive treatment method could not be achieved for children born with eighth cranial nerve and nucleus defect. However, in Turkey in 2002, which was held for the first time in this area with brainstem implantation has been opened in a new era in the world. Firstly, the main reason why we chose this subject is that we have listened to a detailed conference about our subject from otology doctors in Hacettepe University Hospital which is the only center where this operation was carried out, and then we became more curious about this subject, we discussed one on one topic with our instructors. Method: With the permission of our instructor which made this operation and within the ethical rules, we plan to reach a diagnostic and medical examinations of the patients, to present a comprehensive presentation about brainstem implantation which is enriched by different cases. Findings: What is brain stem implantation? It is a procedure applied to patients with congenital malformation in the eighth cranial nerve and who can be diagnosed before the age of five. Normally, the signal transmission between the brain stem and the cochlear nerve provided by the eighth cranial nerve which does not occur in these patients. The aim of this operation is to provide this signal transmission through implant. The reason why the patient group is under five is the language development. Because in patients who do not hear until the age of five, the auditory cortex of the brain occupies the visual cortex. Therefore, patients who are older than 5 years of age can hear sound but can't make sense when the operation is performed. Conclusion: This operation covers not only ENT but audiology, neurosurgery, radiology and psychology. We believe that this new evolution in medicine which is made in Turkey create a different vision to audiences of this congress. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
