Abstrakt: The article discusses prospects of the use of layered silicates, in particular kaolinite, as a filler of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) for the creation of self-lubricating tribotechnical composites. The use of kaolinite contributed to a dramatic increase in the wear resistance of PTFE. The removal of hydration water from the kaolinite structure by annealing at a temperature of 850 ℃, corresponding to the separation of interplanar and constitutive water, has allowed us to improve compatibility with PTFE. This circumstance is confirmed by the high values of physical-mechanical characteristics – at the level of the initial PTFE – and the formation of a spherulite structure in the composite. The increase in the wear resistance of PTFE is accompanied by the formation of a solid lubricant on the friction surface, its continuity being independent of the content and annealing temperature of kaolinite.
