The application of resource-saving technologies offers significant competitive advantages to industrial enterprises. An example of such technologies is the technology of casting production from wastes of machine-building and metallurgical plants using aluminothermic reduction. Such wastes as forged scale, chips of ferrous and nonferrous metals are produced by pouring of iron-carbon melt made by an aluminothermic reaction and further processing of the castings. The advantages of the technology consist in energy saving for melting and low-priced raw materials. The disadvantages are low control of the process and properties of the final product. This paper presents the results of manufacturing casting products with predicted structure and properties by the described method. To reach the requested range of casting product properties, the necessary initial temperatures of the casting mold and the raw thermite materials were determined. After machining, the casting product successfully passed a pneumatic leakage test. Thus, it is possible to predict a high service life of a seamless casting product with an even distribution of chemical elements and properties manufactured from an iron-carbon alloy by aluminothermic reduction.
