Abstrakt: The article presents a study which investigates the link of glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA) and indices of insulin resistance and B-cell function to cognitive function in patients with type 2 diabetes. It offers key information about the study, which involved patients from the Cardiovascular Outcome Trial of LINAgliptin Versus Glimepiride in Type 2 diabetes (CAROLINA). A bell-shaped link between HbA and cognitive function is revealed, with modifying effects of age and sex.
