Abstrakt: School is one of the first and most important places where children take their first steps to enter into society. Healthy habits that are imparted to children during their education are of significant importance in terms of the prevention of diseases. The teaching of behaviours that promote health during this period plays an important role in the development of the awareness of responsibility as well as the growth of healthy generations. Historically, the evaluation of health practices in primary education in Cyprus has been focused on revealing the education against infectious diseases, and there are no scientific publications in the literature on health education; therefore, the aim of this study is to rectify this shortcoming and contribute to the work on the subject in this respect. The study was conducted according to qualitative research methods. The participants were selected from a sample of retired teachers aged 75-80. As a result of this study, it was found that the health education and practices that were applied to the participant teachers when they were students, became an important guide to them when they became teachers. The health education and practices that are implemented in schools have greatly contributed to the eradication of many epidemic diseases in modern society. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
