One hundred growing giant African land snails (Achachatina marginata, Swainson) with a mean weight of 19.00±0.5g were randomly assigned to five (5) dietary treatments of twenty (20) growers per treatment. The five diets had 0% (control), 25, 50, 75 and 100% raw sun-dried dasheen [Colocasia esculenta var.esculenta (L.) Schott] meal as graded replacement for maize. Live weight and shell parameters were taken weekly and feed-intake daily for eight (8) weeks. Parameters monitored were live weight, weight gain, feed conversion ratio and shell parameters (shell and aperture length and width). The mean weekly body weight, weight gain and feedintake showed significant (P< 0.05) differences with the 0% level of inclusion having the highest mean values of 23.51, 9.71 and 1.13g respectively; the 100% level of inclusion had the lowest values of 20.14, 1.69 and 0.34g. There were little differences among treatments for feed conversion ratio and shell parameters of the snails. The overall results indicated that raw sun-dried dasheen meal could satisfactorily replace maize up to 50% in the diets of grower snails with no deleterious effects on performance but with significant reductions in the cost of feeding.
