Abstrakt: In this work, an experimental investigation have been done on a single wavelength fiber laser that operates in L band region. This finding is obtained by employing a bidirectional Semiconductor Optical Amplifier and single mode tapered fiber in the configuration. Tapered fiber and bidirectional SOA is connected in a ring configuration. The reported results show a single mode tapered fiber capable to develop a laser signal due to its properties such as an existance of interference phenomenon when signal is launched into tapered fiber. The involvement of Semiconductor Optical Amplifier had given an advantages to the configuration as it able to enhance the wavelength performance in term of Optical Signal to Noise Ratio value and output peak power. An optical tapered fiber that is employed in this research has a waist diameter of 12μm, waist length of 10mm and 5mm for its up taper and down taper length. In order to achieve the optimum condition, injected current of Semiconductor Optical Amplifier is vary from 0mA to 310mA to observe laser performance especially in term of Optical Signal to Noise Ratio and output peak power. This fiber laser shows a great performance when the SOA injected current is increase to 310mA which is it can lase a single wavelength at 1567nm with the value of OSNR is about 45dB while its output power is - 6.44dbm respectively and this laser can be operating with a high stability over 60 minutes.
