This article focuses on the "Angela Davis-Ruchell Magee" case in the U.S., which is out of the ordinary. Magee claims he cannot obtain a fair trial in the courts of California, pointing to his seven-year-old conviction on a $10 kidnap-robbery charge in Los Angeles and says his guilty plea was fraudulently obtained. Miss Davis, on the other hand, now says she believes it may be possible for her to receive a fair trial in California courts, although she may not have thought so when she left the state in August 1970. Still, it is questionable that a fair trial is possible for her. However, the issue needs to be analyzed in terms of the ability of the criminal justice system to deal impartially with a black, abrasively political defendant accused of serious, violent acts. |
