Abstrakt: This study was aimed to evaluate the social physique anxiety levels of people who are going to sports center. Method: A total of 685 athlete who trained at different sports center in Kars participated in the study; 284 being female athletes (41,46 %) and 401 male athletes (58,54%). In the study; Social Physique Anxiety Scale SPAS which was designed by Hart et al. (1989), adapted into Turkish by Mülazımoğlu and Aşçı (2006), had 12 items and was consisted of two subscales - Expectation of Negative Evaluation ENE and Body Image Dissatisfaction BID was used. For the analyses of the data; Portable IBM SPSS Statistics v22 package program was used. One sample "Kolmogorov-Smirnov" test was employed in order to know whether or not the data followed a normal distribution and it was seen that the data did not follow a normal distribution. Later on, Anova-Homogenety of variance test was used in order to know whether or not the data were homogenous and it was seen that the data were not homogenous. Following these initial analyses; it was decided to use non-parametric test methods for the statistical analyses of the data and Mann-Whitney U test was used in pairwise comparison to explore whether or not Social Physique Anxiety Scale SPAS of the atheletes differed in terms of personal characteristics while Kruskal Wallis statistical method was used for multiple comparisons. Significance level was accepted as 0.05. Findings: It was found out that the students' SPAS-Body Image Dissatisfaction BID score was 11.21±3.45 while SPAS- Expectation of Negative Evaluation ENE score was 20.12±7.51. The participant students' Social Physique Anxiety Scale-SPAS total score was 28.98±8.36. Result: It has been defined that there was a meaningful relationship between the genders of the athletes Social Physique Anxiety level of them. Female athletes' Social Physique Anxiety level were detected significantly as higher scores than boys (P<0,05). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
